MEDITERRANEAN DESIGN & FASHION WEEK

Catania - 2020 September

Giulia Ferrara tells us her collection; the result of a contamination of ideas...

Fragmentation of shapes, movement, progress and modernity, art at the service of the people and utopian vision of peace and freedom.

The centerpiece of her inspiring mood is the Russian Constructivism, a cultural movement began in the first half of the twentieth century that condemned the worship of "art for art's sake", supporting instead the vision of a practice art focused on social purposes. However soaked with Futurism, Cubism, street art and Japanese art of origami, the collection draws inspiration from a painting by the Russian painter Mikhail Fyodorovich Larionov. The material recovery art, the dominant thought in the Russian constructivism, will be protagonist on the clothes with linear patterns.

"To assemble ingeniously more materials, therefore the new art means the use of new materials too, unusual, never used so far by the artists" (V.E. Tatlin)

Giulia has chosen innovative fabrics that make feminine a woman, but so sure of herself that she does not need to attract attention; a revolutionary woman with a social interest.
